Rules & Regulations:-
1. As per the extant Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, which are mandatory, photographs of all applicant(s) / Power of Attorney holders (i.e. who are authorized to operate the account(s)) should be furnished to the bank. RBI guidelines also stipulate obtaining updated documents and photographs once in every three years. NRE customers are also required to submit documentary evidence as a proof of residence in the form of utility bill or a letter from employer. The customers should accordingly provide them.

2. Government of India (GOI) guidelines, PAN / Form No.60/61 (Where PAN is not available) is required to be furnished. From 1.4.10 resident depositors are required to provide copy of PAN to avoid TDS at 20% on interest earned on Fixed Deposits. TDS will be 10% if PAN is provided. Without PAN, Form 15G/H are invalid.

3. SB account should be used to route transactions of only non-business / non-commercial nature. In the event of occurrence of such transactions or any other such transactions that may be construed as dubious or undesirable, the Bank reserves the right to unilaterally freeze operations in such accounts.

4. The condition regarding maintaining minimum balance stipulation laid down by the Bank and communicated to account holder at the time of opening of the account has to be adhered to strictly. Non-maintenance of such minimum balance will attract applicable penalty on a quarterly basis and on a date determined by the bank.

5. The customer should maintain minimum balance as may be required from time to time in the account. The non-maintenance of such adequate balance shall automatically entitle the bank to levy the charges for non-maintenance of the minimum balance. In such an event the bank shall have the first right to set off any available credit that may be available in the account including from amounts flowing into the said account from the collection proceeds or any deposits.

6. If there is no transaction by the account holder in the account continuously for two years, the account automatically gets classified as a ‘dormant / inoperative account’ whereupon further debit transactions are not permitted in the ordinary course. A request for activation of the account has to be made by the customer and the customer is subject afresh to KYC norms (proof of address). Due to non receipt of specific request the cheques received in clearing for credit to the account are liable to be returned.

7. If the balance in the account becomes zero and remains so continuously for three months or more, the Bank reserves to itself the right to close the account without any obligation to intimate the customer.

8. Satisfactory conduct of the account entails maintaining stipulated minimum balance as well as sufficient balance to honour cheques issued to third parties. If there are high incidences of return of cheques due to insufficient funds the Bank reserves the right to close the account under intimation to the customer. No fresh cheque book will be issued in case there is return of cheque for value of Rs.1.00 crore and above on four occasions during a financial year.

9. Any special instructions, both financial and non-financial in nature, like standing instructions, stop payment instructions, issuance of cheque books, issuance of duplicate payment instrument/PIN etc. must be communicated in writing. Otherwise, it shall not be binding on the Bank to comply with such instructions.

10. Any change of address should be immediately communicated in writing to the Bank. The bank will be sending through courier or by post from time to time account statements, fixed deposit receipts and others correspondences. Hence, it is incumbent upon the applicant(s) to intimate change in mailing address, if any, immediately without any loss of time. The bank will not be responsible for any loss, damage, or consequences for wrong delivery of the above items arising out of non-intimation of change in mailing address. The availability of latest and updated e mail id will help bank in reporting the return of such documents.

11. The account number is to be quoted in pay in slips, withdrawals and in all the correspondences with the bank.

12. The account holder(s) is / are expected to verify the entries made in the monthly account statement and draw the attention of the bank to any errors or omissions that might be discovered. The bank does not accept any responsibility for any loss arising out of failure on the part of the account holder to carry out verification of entries in the account statement and to point out such error and / or omission within one month from the date of receipt of account statement.

13. As per RBI guidelines alterations in name of the payee and amount will be returned even if they are authenticated by account holder. As regards other alterations, if any, on cheques are required to be authenticated by the drawer’s full signature against each such alteration. The Bank reserves the right to refuse payment of cheques that have been altered in any way unless the alteration is authenticated by the drawer under full signature as per specimen on record with the Bank. Cheques should be drawn in such a way as to prevent alteration after issue. The account holder’s signature(s) in the cheque must conform to his specimen signature(s) recorded with the bank.

14. The account holders are advised to keep their chequebooks in a place of safety. The Bank will not be responsible for any incorrect payment attributable to their negligence in this regard.

15. No overdrawing is permissible in deposit accounts.

16. The bank has the authority to debit the accounts to recover any amount credited erroneously.

17. Collection of outstation instruments entails collection charges as indicated in the Cheque Collection Policy. The bank does not accept any responsibility for loss, delay, mutilation or interception of the instruments in postal or courier transit.

18. In case of withdrawal of funds by cheque, the date of payment and not the date of the cheque, will be taken as the date of withdrawal for the purpose.

19. Interest will be calculated on daily product method and credited to the account on half yearly basis. No interest will be allowed unless the amount accrued during the half year amounts to Re.1/-.

20. When a customer wants his / her operative account at one branch to be transferred to another branch, he / she has to give his / her request in writing along with, ATM Card, unused cheque books. The bank will close the account and arrange to open a new account at the other branch and will issue new cheque book, new ATM Card, etc.

21. Local cheques, etc., may be tendered for collection sufficiently early in the day as required vis-à-vis the local clearing house times. Drawals against clearing cheques will be normally permitted only against cleared balances as per clearing house rules.

22. Please change the PIN for ATM operations, frequently. Please don’t keep the blank signed cheque books. Keep the cheque books in lock and key.

23. The Bank may give immediate credit in respect of outstation cheques drawn in favour of the account holders for amounts up to Rs.15,000/- which may change from time to time, provided the account has been conducted satisfactorily for a period of at least six months. The normal collection and out of pocket charges will be recovered. Overdue interest will be recovered for instruments subsequently returned unpaid.

24. Nomination facility is available. In terms of Ministry of Finance directive, nomination is mandatory. The consent of account holder has to be conveyed to bank in writing for displaying the name of the nominee on account statement otherwise bank will indicate only the status regarding nomination registered or not.

25. Account statements are generated only when there are transactions during the month. If the customers want statement of accounts for such months, then it will be issued on specific request and on payment of necessary charges. In order to convey latest changes in any rule or caution the customer for certain eventuality bank uses the insertions in the account statement from time to time. Once the bank has conveyed them through this mode, bank will not be liable to inform the customers separately and individually.

26. The Bank is a member of Banking Codes and Standards Board of India and committed to honour the covenants of its codes. Customers can get a copy from the branch. Similarly the Bank has a Fair Practice Code and Policy on Deposit which are also available in the same manner.

27. The opening/operating/closing of any account are subject to the extant Know Your Customer (KYC) guidelines and policy of the bank drafted in line with the RBI norms.

29. In case of joint accounts (operable by both jointly or both or survivor or all of them or survivors or either or survivor) all the joint account holders must sign the request letter to transfer the account.

30. Account holders(s) desirous to close their accounts should submit their applications stating the reasons for closure. The unused cheques and the ATM Card (after cutting into two pieces across the magnetic strip) must be surrendered along with the request letter. A service charge be recovered if the account is closed before twelve months of its opening. The request letter for closure of joint accounts must be signed by all the account holders.

31. The Bank reserves to itself the right to alter, delete or add any of these rules at any time without prior intimation to individual customers or to refuse to open an account or to close any account. However such charges will be posted in the Bank’s website and in the Notice Board of the branches.

32. The onus to establish NRI status by way of providing documents reflecting latest visa status is on the customers themselves. In the event of expiry of visa or passport customer has to inform the bank and ensure to provide renewed visa and passport in case he/she wishes to continue NRI status. The customer would be responsible for any consequences arising from regulatory breach in the event of failure on the part of the customer to provide these documents to bank. The responsibility to inform the bank about returning to India and cessation of NRI status for any other reason will be of the customer. The bank will not be responsible for any loss of interest or payment of tax leviable on account of failure arising from change in NRI status.

33. Opening of the Savings Bank Account tantamount to deemed acceptance of the aforesaid rules and regulations as well as the fact of being informed about the various service charges being levied by the Bank and the terms and conditions guiding related products and services.

34. The Bank reserves the right to alter, delete or add to any of these Rules for which the customer will be duly notified through Bank’s website and / or branch notice board.
